A one-week build for eight trucks of steel.

How I built the inventory and operations system a foundation-repair crew runs on. (Their public website isn’t mine.)

The crew was counting steel, jacks and pier stock on paper and from memory. It was first scoped as a $15,000 software project. My call was to cut it to what they needed and build that in one week, at $300 an hour.

Two decisions shaped it. Techs scan with Honeywell handhelds, and role-based security keeps pricing out of their view. And there’s a sandbox next to production, so every change gets tried before it ships. The warehouse picks with scan-to-confirm, and labels print through a print server.

It went live in under two weeks. It launched in March 2026 with 136 SKUs across 8 trucks and 30 manufacturers, and it’s still running on hosting in the business’s own name.
