My Story

Hi, I’m Ava.

Birth has always felt sacred to me, but I didn’t always have the words for why. Looking back, I can trace it back to something very personal — watching my own mother give birth.

When I was younger, I witnessed my mom have two home births. Those moments left a mark on my heart in a way I didn’t fully understand at the time. I remember seeing her in a state of strength and surrender that was unlike anything I had ever witnessed before. It was raw, powerful, and deeply beautiful. She wasn’t afraid of the process — she trusted her body, trusted the Lord, and moved through birth with a strength that I will never forget.

Something shifted in me during those moments.

I saw my mother in the fullness of her womanhood — strong, vulnerable, and completely present. Birth wasn’t something scary or chaotic the way it is often portrayed in the world. It was sacred. It was purposeful. It was the way God designed women’s bodies to bring life into the world.

From that point forward, birth never looked the same to me.

As I grew older, that memory stayed with me. I found myself drawn to conversations about pregnancy and birth, fascinated by the way women’s bodies work and the emotional, spiritual, and physical journey that motherhood begins with. Eventually I realized that the desire I felt wasn’t just curiosity — it was a calling.

Becoming a doula felt like a natural extension of what had been placed on my heart long before I knew what a doula even was.

My faith plays a huge role in the way I approach this work. I truly believe that women were beautifully and intentionally created for this process, and that birth deserves to be protected, supported, respected, and cherished. While every birth unfolds differently, my goal is always to help mothers feel calm, informed, and deeply supported as they bring their babies into the world.

Over time I’ve had the privilege of attending births and supporting families while working alongside another experienced doula. Being welcomed into such intimate and powerful moments has only confirmed what I already felt in my heart — this is where I’m meant to be.

Through Far Above Rubies Doula Care, my hope is to walk alongside mothers and families with compassion, steady presence, and encouragement. Birth is one of the most transformative moments in a woman’s life, and no mother should feel alone in it.

Whether your birth is quiet and gentle or intense and powerful, my heart is to support you, encourage you, and remind you of the strength you carry.

Because the same strength I once saw in my own mother is something I believe lives inside every woman.
